Ethan Was Accused of Taking Clothes Without Permission — Then the Garage Camera Showed Who Had Put Them There Before He Ever Touched the Box
Chapter 1 — “What Are You Doing With All of This?”
Teenager Ethan was quietly packing clothes into a large cardboard box in the garage.
Jeans.
Sweaters.
Two winter coats.
Several pairs of shoes.
And a stack of neatly folded shirts.
He was so focused that he did not hear the garage door open behind him.
His father, Daniel, walked in.
Then stopped.
His expression hardened immediately.
“What are you doing with all of this?”
Ethan looked up.
“Dad, I can explain.”
Daniel walked toward the box.
He recognized several items.
One coat belonged to him.
A sweater belonged to Claire.
Two shirts had belonged to Ethan’s older cousin during a recent visit.
“Why are family clothes in a box?”
Ethan stood.
“Because I’m packing them.”
“For what?”
“I was going to tell you.”
Daniel’s voice sharpened.
“After you took them?”
Ethan frowned.
“I didn’t take anything.”
Daniel pointed toward the coat.
“That’s mine.”
“I know.”
“Then how did it end up here?”
“It was already here.”
Daniel stared at him.
“Ethan.”
“I’m serious.”
“I never took these out of the house.”
Daniel looked toward the shelves.
Several storage bins had been opened.
A donation bag was sitting nearby.
From Daniel’s perspective, the scene seemed obvious.
Ethan had gathered clothing.
Placed it in a box.
And apparently planned to remove it.
“Were you going to sell this stuff?” Daniel asked.
Ethan’s face changed.
“What?”
“Or give it away without asking?”
“No!”
The argument grew loud enough that Claire heard it from the kitchen.
She rushed into the garage.
“What’s going on?”
Daniel pointed toward the box.
“Ask him.”
Claire looked at Ethan.
“What happened?”
Ethan took a breath.
“I didn’t take these clothes.”
“They were already in the garage.”
Daniel shook his head.
“And we’re supposed to believe they magically appeared?”
Claire looked toward the small security camera mounted above the garage shelves.
Then back at Daniel.
“He says they were already here.”
“Then check it.”
Daniel pulled out his phone.
He opened the garage recording.
At first, the floor beside the shelves was empty.
Then someone walked into frame carrying two large bags of clothing.
Daniel leaned closer.
It was not Ethan.
And when the person’s face became visible, Daniel’s anger disappeared almost instantly.
