Claire Realized Noah Had Taken the Wrong Suitcase — Then Airport Security Asked Who Told Him to Pick It Up

Chapter 1 — The Wrong Suitcase

Claire Dawson had been watching the same black suitcases circle the baggage carousel for almost fifteen minutes.

She was tired.

Noah was tired.

And after a delayed flight, both of them wanted nothing more than to get home.

Then Noah suddenly pointed.

“There!”

A medium-sized black suitcase rolled toward them.

Same brand.

Same silver zipper.

Same scratched corner as Noah’s bag.

Noah grabbed the handle and pulled it from the belt.

Claire smiled.

Then she noticed the luggage tag.

“Wait.”

Noah looked at her.

“What?”

Claire turned the tag over.

The name printed across it was not Dawson.

It read:

ADRIAN COLE.

Claire frowned.

“That isn’t ours.”

Noah looked confused.

“But it looks exactly like mine.”

“A lot of suitcases look the same.”

Claire reached for the handle.

Before she could put it back, she noticed something wedged beside the zipper.

A plastic identification card.

She pulled it free.

The photograph showed a man in his forties.

The name matched the tag.

ADRIAN COLE.

Claire’s expression changed.

Why would someone’s identification card be sticking out of checked luggage?

An airport security officer noticed them standing beside the carousel.

He walked over.

“Everything okay?”

Claire held up the tag.

“My son picked up the wrong suitcase.”

Noah suddenly looked nervous.

Claire noticed.

“Noah?”

He stared toward the other side of the baggage hall.

Claire’s stomach tightened.

“Who gave you this bag?”

Noah swallowed.

“He told me it was mine.”

Claire froze.

“Who told you?”

Noah slowly raised his hand.

He pointed across the baggage hall.

The security officer immediately turned.

But the man Noah had been pointing toward was already walking away.
