Daniel found Ethan doing homework.
“Can I ask you something about the clothing drive?”
Ethan looked up.
“Sure.”
“Would it be helpful if my office collected donations too?”
Ethan looked surprised.
Daniel worked at a large accounting firm.
Dozens of employees passed through his floor every day.
“Probably.”
“I was thinking of asking people to bring clean winter clothes.”
Then Daniel added:
“But it’s your school drive.”
“I don’t want to step into it without asking.”
Ethan stared at him for a moment.
Then smiled slightly.
“Yeah.”
“That would actually help.”
Daniel nodded.
“Tell me the rules.”
Ethan explained.
Nothing badly damaged.
Nothing dirty.
All pockets checked.
Items sorted by type.

Everyone donating had to know the items were being given away permanently.
Daniel laughed.
“That last one feels personally relevant.”
Ethan smiled.
“Very.”
Within three days, Daniel’s office filled two large boxes.
He brought them home.
Then he stopped at the garage entrance.
Ethan was already sorting school donations.
Daniel held up the boxes.
“Where do you want these?”
Ethan pointed toward an empty area.
“There.”
Daniel placed them exactly where Ethan indicated.

“Want help sorting?”

“Yeah.”
For the first time since the argument, they worked in the garage together.
