Daniel Found a Working Two-Way Radio Hidden Inside His Son’s Bedroom Wall — Then a Voice on the Other End Revealed Who Had Been Contacting Noah in Secret
Chapter 6 — “When Are Your Parents Home?”
Daniel sat across from Noah.
“Think carefully.”
“Did Grandpa ask when we’re not home because he wanted to come over?”
Noah shrugged.
“Maybe.”
“Did he ever come here when we weren’t home?”
Noah shook his head quickly.
“No.”
Rachel asked:
“Did he ever tell you to leave the house?”
“No.”
“Meet him somewhere?”
“No.”
That eased some of their fear.
But not all of it.
Daniel knew Henry.
He could imagine exactly why his father might ask those questions.
Henry hated confrontation.
He preferred finding a way around a conflict rather than admitting the conflict existed.
Maybe he had considered visiting Noah when Daniel and Rachel were away.
Maybe he had never followed through.
Either way, Daniel needed facts.
“We’re checking everything tomorrow.”
Rachel nodded.
They took the radio out of Noah’s room.
Daniel placed it in the kitchen.
Noah stayed with Rachel for the rest of the night.
Before going back to sleep, Noah asked:
“Do I never get to talk to Grandpa again?”
Daniel did not give an angry answer.
“I don’t know yet.”
Noah looked worried.
“But that’s an adult decision.”
“You don’t have to solve it tonight.”
The next morning, Daniel checked the hallway security recordings from Henry’s last visit.
The camera did not show inside Noah’s bedroom.
But it showed the hallway outside.
At 3:18 PM, Henry entered Noah’s room carrying only a small toolbox.
At 3:41 PM, he stepped into the hallway.
Looked toward the stairs.
Then went back inside carrying something small and black in his hand.
Daniel paused the recording.
Rachel leaned closer.
It looked exactly like the radio.
Then another camera angle showed Henry doing something Daniel had never known about.
He left the house ten minutes later…
and returned alone that evening after telling Daniel he had already gone home.
