Claire and Noah were taken to a small airport security office.
Within minutes, video from the baggage hall appeared on a monitor.
Ramirez rewound to the moment their flight’s luggage began arriving.
Noah and Claire appeared near Carousel Six.
Then the man in the gray coat entered the frame.
He was not collecting luggage.
He was watching passengers.
Ramirez leaned closer.
The man looked toward Claire.
Then Noah.
Then toward the arriving bags.
Several minutes later, the black suitcase belonging to Adrian Cole appeared.
The man moved immediately.
He stepped between two passengers.
He pulled the suitcase slightly away from the belt’s inner edge.
Then he looked directly toward Noah.
Claire felt cold.
“He chose him.”
Ramirez nodded.
The footage showed the man speaking to Noah.
Then pointing toward the suitcase.
Noah grabbed it.
The man stepped away.
But he did not leave.
He stayed close enough to watch.
“Why?” Claire whispered.
Ramirez kept playing the recording.
The moment Claire noticed the luggage tag, the man started walking toward the exit.
He had been waiting to see whether they discovered the mistake.
Then another detail appeared.
A second man was standing near the opposite end of the carousel.
He wore a blue baseball cap.
When Noah took Adrian’s suitcase, the second man moved toward another black bag.
Claire frowned.
Ramirez paused the footage.
“That bag is probably yours.”
The second man lifted it from the belt.
Then walked away.
Claire’s eyes widened.
Someone had made Noah take Adrian Cole’s suitcase…
while someone else stole Noah’s.
