Noah Was Pulled Away From a Hotel Luggage Cart — Then His Toy Truck Revealed What Someone Had Hidden Beside the Wheel
Chapter 4 — The Security Supervisor’s Number
The room went silent.
Grant stared at the paper.
“That’s impossible.”
Marcus slid it across the table.
The document showed temporary staff card:
T-1184.
Issued by:
G. MILLER.
Time:
4:08 PM.
Grant shook his head.
“I wasn’t working that day.”
Rebecca looked toward him.
“You were at the regional security meeting.”
“Exactly.”
Marcus nodded.
“That’s why I kept digging.”
Someone had issued a staff-access card using Grant’s credentials while Grant was out of town.
Grant immediately checked the hotel system.
The login originated from a workstation in the administrative hallway.
Not his security office.
Rebecca frowned.
“Who can use that workstation?”
“Managers,” Grant replied.
“Human resources.”
“Finance.”
“Sometimes event coordination.”
Too many people.
Emily pointed toward the room list.
“I still want to know why Room 814 is there.”
Marcus looked toward David.
“Are you attending the Bennett Medical Conference?”
David nodded.
“Yes.”
Marcus looked at Emily.
“And you were supposed to take Noah to the aquarium this afternoon?”
Emily froze.
“How do you know that?”
Marcus pointed toward the lobby.
“You asked the concierge for directions this morning.”
Emily understood.
Someone could have heard.
Room 814 would have been empty from approximately noon until four.
Except Noah got tired.
They returned early.
Then he began playing in the lobby while Emily spoke to the concierge.
Her son’s toy truck rolled beneath the wrong luggage cart.
And exposed the cards before anybody could use them.
Grant looked toward Rebecca.
“Lock down every temporary card immediately.”
Rebecca nodded.
Then her phone rang.
Front desk.
Another guest had just reported something missing.
Room:
612.
Rebecca looked at the handwritten list.
Beside 612 was the word:
DONE.
