Noah Was Pulled Away From a Hotel Luggage Cart — Then His Toy Truck Revealed What Someone Had Hidden Beside the Wheel
Chapter 2 — Room 814
Emily stopped breathing for a moment.
“Why is my room on this list?”
The employee looked toward the front desk.
“I think we should get the manager.”
Emily laughed in disbelief.
“Now you want the manager?”
Noah remained pressed against her side.
“Mommy, can we go home?”
Emily kissed the top of his head.
“Soon.”
The employee’s name tag read:
MARCUS HILL — BELL SERVICES.
Marcus lowered his voice.
“Please don’t go back to Room 814 yet.”
Emily stared at him.
“Why?”
Marcus hesitated.
“Because I don’t know who has those other cards.”
That changed everything.
Emily immediately called her husband, David, who was upstairs attending a conference meeting.
“Come to the lobby. Now.”
Then she asked hotel security to join them.
Within minutes, Assistant Manager Rebecca Sloan arrived with Security Supervisor Grant Miller.
Emily placed the cards and paper on the reception counter.
Rebecca read the room numbers.
Her expression tightened.
“Where exactly did you find these?”
Emily pointed toward the luggage cart.
“Behind the wheel.”
Rebecca looked at Marcus.
“Do you know anything about this?”
Marcus said nothing.
Grant picked up one of the cards.
“These aren’t guest cards.”
Emily frowned.
“Then what are they?”
“Temporary staff access cards.”
Rebecca turned sharply toward Marcus.
“Why would three temporary access cards be hidden inside your luggage cart?”
Marcus finally answered.
“Because I put them there.”
Emily pulled Noah closer.
David arrived just in time to hear the confession.
“You did what?”
Marcus immediately shook his head.
“Not for the reason you’re thinking.”
Then he pointed toward the handwritten room list.
“I found that first.”
Rebecca’s face changed.
“Where?”
Marcus whispered:
“Inside the bell office.”
