Chapter 9 — Brandon Comes Back
Three weeks passed before Megan returned to Bellamy’s.
Tyler asked to go.
“Why?” Megan asked.
“I want pancakes.”
“We can get pancakes somewhere else.”
Tyler shrugged.
“These are better.”
When they entered, Evelyn greeted them personally.
“Booth 9?”
Tyler smiled.
“Definitely.”
Brandon was still employed.
But only after cooperating fully with police and accepting disciplinary action from the restaurant.
He approached the table nervously.
“Hi.”
Tyler looked at him.
“Are you going to spill anything?”
Brandon laughed.
“Not intentionally.”
Megan gave him a look.
“Maybe don’t joke about that yet.”
“Fair.”
Brandon became serious.
“I wanted to apologize again.”
Tyler nodded.
“You already did.”
“I know.”
Brandon looked embarrassed.
“But I keep thinking about what I said.”
“That I knocked it over?”
“Yeah.”
Tyler waited.
Brandon continued.
“When I was scared, I decided it was easier if someone else looked guilty.”
Tyler looked toward Megan.
Then back at him.
“That was dumb.”
Brandon smiled.
“Very.”
“Okay.”
“Okay what?”
“I forgive you.”
Brandon looked surprised.
“Just like that?”
Tyler nodded.
“But I’m holding my own drink.”
