Emma Was Punished for Breaking the Family Trophy — Then the Security Camera Showed the Dog Knocked It Down After Grandma Moved It Herself

Chapter 1 — “I Told You”

Little Emma sat crying on a wooden chair while Grandma Margaret stood over her angrily.

On the floor nearby lay the family’s large silver trophy.

One handle had snapped loose.

The wooden base had split along one corner.

A small engraved plate hung crookedly from the front.

Margaret pointed toward it.

“You broke it.”

Emma shook her head.

“I didn’t.”

“Emma.”

“I didn’t!”

Margaret folded her arms.

“You were playing in this room.”

“I was coloring.”

“And now the trophy is broken.”

Emma wiped her face.

“Buddy was here.”

Buddy was the family’s large golden retriever.

Margaret immediately shook her head.

“Don’t blame the dog.”

At that moment, Emma’s mother Rachel rushed into the room.

She had heard the crying from the kitchen.

“What’s happening?”

Emma immediately stood.

“Mommy.”

Rachel looked toward the damaged trophy.

Then toward Margaret.

“What happened?”

Margaret answered:

“Emma knocked the trophy down.”

Emma shook her head again.

“No.”

Rachel crouched beside her daughter.

“Did anyone actually see her do it?”

Margaret frowned.

“She was right beside it.”

“That’s not what I asked.”

Margaret’s expression tightened.

“I came in and found Emma in the room with the trophy on the floor.”

Rachel looked toward Emma.

“Did you touch it?”

“No.”

“Did you bump the table?”

“No.”

“Did you see it fall?”

Emma nodded.

“Buddy did it.”

Margaret sighed.

“Rachel, please.”

Then Rachel noticed the small security camera mounted above the doorway.

It covered most of the family room.

“We can check.”

Margaret stopped.

Rachel pulled out her phone.

She opened the recording.

The trophy stood on a narrow side table near the window.

Emma was nowhere in sight.

For almost three minutes, the room remained empty.

Then Buddy entered.

The dog walked toward the side table.

He sniffed around the base.

Then turned suddenly.

His tail struck one of the table legs.

The narrow table wobbled.

The trophy shifted.

Buddy turned again.

This time his body bumped the table.

The trophy fell.

It hit the wooden floor with a loud crash.

Buddy jumped backward and ran.

Almost a full minute later…

Emma entered.

She saw the trophy.

Then immediately called:

“Grandma!”

Rachel paused the recording.

Margaret’s face went pale.

Emma looked up through her tears.

“I told you.”

Rachel slowly turned toward Margaret.

“She didn’t touch it.”

Margaret stared at the screen.

“I thought…”

Rachel interrupted gently but firmly.

“You didn’t know.”

Then Rachel looked toward the side table in the recording.

Something else bothered her.

“Why was the trophy there?”

Margaret’s expression changed again.

Rachel pointed toward the screen.

“It normally sits inside the display cabinet.”

Margaret went silent.

And suddenly the story was no longer only about the dog.
