Chapter 3 — Richard Had Signed the Intake Sheet
Mark placed the paper on the counter.
“This is your signature?”
Richard stared.
“Yes.”
“You signed at 8:11.”
Richard looked toward Lena.
“You people shove paperwork in front of customers.”
Lena looked surprised.
“I didn’t shove anything at you.”
Richard pointed toward the form.
“Did you specifically say there was a scratch?”
Lena thought.
“Yes.”
“I always review existing damage.”
Richard shook his head.
“I don’t remember that.”
Mark did not argue about memory.
He went back to the security footage.
The garage cameras recorded video but not clear audio from the outdoor intake lane.
So the conversation itself could not prove what Lena had said.
But the footage showed her pointing toward the driver’s door.
Richard looked at the exact area.
Then both walked toward the front desk.
Sarah said:
“You looked at it.”
Richard became furious.
“Stop acting like you know what I saw.”
Sarah stopped.
He was right about one narrow point.
The camera showed where Richard looked.
It could not prove exactly what he mentally noticed.
Mark nodded.
“Fair.”
Richard seemed surprised.
Mark continued.
“We don’t need to prove you noticed it this morning.”
“We only need to establish whether Sarah caused it.”
Richard went quiet.
Mark advanced the video to the moment Sarah drove the sedan into Bay Three.
Before she entered the car, she performed another walk-around inspection.
Then she stopped beside the driver’s door.
She took out her phone.
And photographed the scratch.
Sarah looked toward Richard.
“I knew I had a picture.”
Mark opened the service record.
There it was.
A timestamped photograph uploaded before any repair work began.
But when Richard saw the timestamp, he suddenly insisted the garage could have altered it.
