Daniel Found a Working Two-Way Radio Hidden Inside His Son’s Bedroom Wall — Then a Voice on the Other End Revealed Who Had Been Contacting Noah in Secret
Chapter 1 — The Sound Behind the Wall
Daniel woke sometime after midnight.
At first, he did not know what had disturbed him.
The house was dark.
Rachel was asleep beside him.
Then the sound came again.
A short burst of static.
Daniel sat upright.
Rachel opened her eyes.
“Did you hear that?”
“Yeah.”
They listened.
Several seconds passed.
Then:
Crackle.
The noise was coming from down the hallway.
From their nine-year-old son Noah’s bedroom.
Daniel immediately got out of bed.
Rachel followed.
Noah’s bedroom door was partially open.
Daniel looked inside.
Noah was asleep.
Nothing appeared disturbed.
Then the static came again.
This time both parents heard exactly where it originated.
A small door built into the lower wall beside Noah’s bookshelf.
The house had several old storage compartments left from an earlier renovation.
That particular one was rarely used.
Daniel stared.
“Was that open earlier?”
Rachel shook her head.
“I don’t think so.”
The little door stood open by several inches.
Daniel approached slowly.
Rachel remained close behind him.
He pulled it wider.
Inside were an old blanket, several board games…
and something neither parent recognized.
A black two-way radio.
A tiny red light blinked near the top.
Daniel stared at it.
“That isn’t ours.”
Rachel’s face went pale.
Before either could move, the speaker crackled.
Then a man’s voice came through.
“Noah?”
Daniel froze.
Rachel grabbed his arm.
The voice returned.
“Noah, are you there?”
Daniel looked at his sleeping son.
Then at the radio.
Somebody knew Noah’s name.
Somebody expected him to answer.
And whoever was speaking clearly believed that radio was supposed to be hidden inside their child’s bedroom.
