Rachel Thought the Nanny Had Been Near Her Baby’s Crib — Then the Monitor Recorded Someone Hiding in the Camera’s Blind Spot

Chapter 9 — Rachel Apologizes to Jasmine

Once the immediate danger passed, Rachel asked Jasmine to sit with her in the kitchen.

Jasmine looked nervous.

“Am I being fired?”

Rachel’s expression softened.

“No.”

Then she added:

“I owe you an apology.”

Jasmine looked surprised.

Rachel remembered how she had rushed into the nursery hallway.

“What were you doing in here?”

She had seen Jasmine leave the room.

She had received a motion alert.

And she had immediately connected the two.

“I made it sound like I thought you were doing something wrong.”

Jasmine shrugged carefully.

“I understand why you were scared.”

Rachel shook her head.

“Being scared doesn’t mean I should decide before checking.”

Jasmine smiled faintly.

Then she said:

“At least you checked the camera.”

Rachel laughed.

“Thank God.”

The recording had cleared Jasmine almost instantly.

But Jasmine had also helped solve the second half of the mystery.

She noticed the nursery mobile.

A tiny detail nobody else considered important.

That detail led investigators to the earlier forty-three-second camera interruption.

And that interruption connected Colin directly to the house.

Rachel looked at her.

“How did you even notice the giraffe was facing the wrong direction?”

Jasmine smiled.

“When you spend ten hours a day with a baby, you notice everything.”
