Caleb Nearly Got Hit by a Falling Garage Box — Then the Security Camera Showed Someone Had Moved It on Purpose

Chapter 6 — Thomas’s Hidden Pages

Jason agreed to meet Ryan at a public diner.

Megan came too.

Jason arrived carrying an old brown envelope.

Ryan hadn’t seen his brother in fifteen years.

Jason looked older.

Thinner.

But unmistakably familiar.

He sat down.

“First, I’m sorry about Caleb.”

Ryan said nothing.

“I wasn’t trying to drop that box. I was pulling a file from behind it.”

“You still entered without permission.”

Jason nodded.

“I know.”

Then he placed the envelope on the table.

Inside were the missing ledger pages.

Ryan stared at him.

“You tore these out?”

“No.”

Jason explained.

The pages had been folded inside another file envelope in Thomas’s box.

That was what he took from the garage.

Ryan compared them with the ledger.

The page numbers matched the missing section.

Thomas had removed them himself.

Across one page, he had written:

ORIGINAL ENTRIES — KEEP SEPARATE.

The entries showed payments to legitimate subcontractors.

But the final ledger in Ryan’s possession showed those same payments going to completely different companies.

Same amounts.

Same dates.

Different recipients.

Megan looked at both versions.

“Someone changed the ledger.”

Jason nodded.

Then he produced another page.

A list written by Thomas.

Three suspicious companies.

Beside one was a note:

MAILBOX REGISTERED TO M.E.

Ryan looked up.

“Mark Ellison.”

Jason nodded.

“Dad was investigating him.”
