Lily Found “214” Written Inside a Forbidden Kitchen Cabinet — Then Michael Saw the Look on Rachel’s Face

Chapter 1 — The Three Blue Numbers

Lily had only wanted the red cup.

It was sitting on the second shelf of the kitchen cabinet.

Just high enough that she needed the small wooden stool.

She dragged it across the floor.

Climbed carefully.

Then reached upward.

“Lily!”

Rachel rushed into the kitchen.

“Get down from there.”

The sudden shout frightened the little girl.

Her foot slipped slightly.

Rachel caught her before she fell.

Lily immediately began crying.

Michael heard the commotion from the hallway.

He entered quickly.

“What happened?”

Rachel placed Lily safely on the floor.

“She was opening this cabinet again.”

Michael frowned.

“Again?”

“I’ve told her not to touch it.”

Lily wiped her eyes.

“I wanted my cup.”

Michael crouched beside her.

“You’re not in trouble.”

Rachel immediately said:

“Michael, she needs to understand—”

Lily suddenly pointed upward.

“Daddy.”

Michael followed her finger.

The cabinet door was still open.

On the inside panel, written faintly in blue ink, were three numbers.

214.

Michael stood.

“What’s that?”

Lily shook her head.

“It was there.”

Michael looked toward Rachel.

Her expression had changed completely.

The anger was gone.

So was the color in her face.

Michael noticed instantly.

“You recognize that number.”

Rachel said nothing.

“Rachel?”

She slowly closed the cabinet door.

“It’s nothing.”

Michael stared at her.

“That didn’t look like nothing.”

Lily pointed toward the cabinet again.

“There’s something behind it.”

Rachel turned sharply.

“What?”

Lily whispered:

“A little key.”
