Lucas Forced to Wash Luxury SUV in School Uniform — Then the Real Reason Behind the Rigid Academy Penalties Surfaces

Chapter 9 — Law Enforcement Arrives at the Academy — Then the Administrators Are Escorted Away

Two blue and white patrol cruisers turn sharply into the main driveway of St. Jude’s Private Academy.

The vehicles accelerate across the paved courtyard.

They stop directly in front of the grand oak double doors of the administration building.

Four uniformed officers open the cruiser doors simultaneously.

They step out onto the manicured grounds with firm, deliberate strides.

The heavy boots of the lead officer click loudly against the stone steps.

He pushes open the double doors and enters the main reception hall.

Two other officers move quickly toward the side administrative wing.

Headmistress Sterling watches the entrance through the floor-to-ceiling glass panel of her office.

Her face drains of all color.

Director Vance takes a sudden step backward toward the filing cabinets.

“You called the police?” Director Vance asks, turning his wide eyes toward Pastor Thomas.

“I reported financial fraud and the unlawful coercion of a student,” Pastor Thomas answers calmly.

The heavy glass door of the office swings open with a sharp click.

The lead officer steps into the room.

He rests his hand gently on the leather holster at his belt.

“Pastor Thomas?” the officer asks.

“That is correct, Officer,” Pastor Thomas replies.

The officer looks around the room, taking in Headmistress Sterling, Director Vance, Mrs. Gable, and Lucas.

“I am Sergeant Miller,” the officer states.

He holds up a transparent evidence folder containing a printed dispatch ticket.

“We received a complaint regarding embezzlement and the intimidation of a minor.”

Headmistress Sterling steps forward, lifting her chin with an artificial display of confidence.

“There has been a severe misunderstanding here,” Headmistress Sterling announces, her voice sharp.

“This is a private institution, and our internal disciplinary matters are strictly confidential.”

Sergeant Miller does not break eye contact with her.

“The financial records and the video footage provided by the accountant tell a very different story, ma’am.”

Sergeant Miller gestures toward the doorway.

A second officer steps inside carrying a portable tablet computer.

The screen of the tablet glows brightly in the center of the office.

It displays clear, high-definition video footage of the residential garage.

Lucas can be seen on the screen, kneeling on the wet, soapy floor.

The black luxury SUV fills the background of the frame.

Headmistress Sterling appears in the footage, standing over the kneeling boy in her suit and red tie.

Director Vance walks into the camera frame just seconds later.

“That video was captured by the residence security camera system,” Mrs. Gable notes quietly.

Sergeant Miller taps the screen to pause the playback on a frozen frame of Lucas holding the yellow sponge.

“Forcing a minor to perform manual labor as a coercive tool to cover up financial crimes is a felony offense,” Sergeant Miller says.

“We are detaining both of you for questioning regarding grand larceny and child endangerment.”

Director Vance shakes his head rapidly.

“This is completely unwarranted,” Director Vance protests, his voice cracking slightly.

“You cannot just barge in here.”

“Step away from the desk, Director Vance,” Sergeant Miller orders, gesturing to the officers standing in the doorway.

Two officers move immediately to flank Director Vance.

They take hold of his arms and guide him toward the exit.

Headmistress Sterling opens her mouth to speak, but the words fail her.

She lowers her gaze to the floor as an officer steps beside her.

“Please place your hands behind your back, Headmistress,” the officer instructs evenly.

The heavy silver cuffs click securely around Headmistress Sterling’s wrists.

She is escorted out of the office through the silent hallway.

Sergeant Miller turns his attention back to the mahogany desk where the stack of financial ledgers sits.

He picks up a blank official witness statement form from his pocket.

He slides the paper across the polished wood toward Lucas.

“Before we wrap up the initial report at the academy, I need your signature on this formal witness testimony, Lucas,” Sergeant Miller requests.

“Do you have a pen I can borrow?”
