Emma Was Blamed for a Missing Heirloom — Then Sarah Saw Its Tracker Inside Aunt Nicole’s Handbag
Chapter 10 — What the Tracker Really Found
Months later, Sarah took Emma to visit Eleanor.
Eleanor showed them photographs of Rebecca as a child.
School pictures.
Birthday parties.
A graduation photograph.
Emma studied one carefully.
“Mom, she looks like you.”
Sarah smiled.
“A little.”
Eleanor laughed.
“More than a little.”
Sarah had spent her entire life believing she understood where she came from.
Learning the truth did not destroy that life.
Helen was still her mother.
David was still her father.
Nicole was still her sister.
But now Rebecca had a place in the story too.
So did Eleanor.
And so did a newborn once called Lucy.
Nicole and Sarah repaired their relationship slowly.
Trust did not return just because Nicole apologized.
But she stopped hiding behind fear.
When questions became uncomfortable, she answered them.
That was a beginning.
One evening, Emma noticed Sarah checking the tracker application on her phone.
“Is the necklace missing again?”
Sarah smiled.
“No.”
“Then why are you checking?”
“Habit.”
Emma thought for a moment.
“The tracker told you Aunt Nicole had it.”
“It did.”
Emma smiled proudly.
“So the tracker solved everything.”
Sarah looked at her daughter.
“Not everything.”
It had solved the first question.
Where was the missing pendant?
Inside Nicole’s handbag.
But that answer led to another.
Why had Nicole taken it?
That led to the hidden compartment.
The compartment led to Helen’s secret.
The pendant led to a photograph.
The photograph led to Eleanor.
And Eleanor finally gave Sarah the history Helen had been too afraid to tell while she was alive.
Sarah often thought about the first few minutes.
Emma sitting beside the open jewelry box.
Nicole rushing into the room.
“Where is it?”
Then suspicion falling immediately on the smallest person there.
But Emma hadn’t taken anything.
The missing item was only a few feet away.
Hidden inside the handbag of the person making the accusation.
All Sarah had to do was open the map.
A red marker appeared.
Three feet away.
One tiny electronic signal cleared Emma’s name.
But more importantly, it forced the adults in the room to stop accusing…
and start asking why the truth had been hidden in the first place.
