Waiter Jason Blamed Lucas for the Spilled Soda — Then the Restaurant Camera Showed Rachel What Really Happened

Chapter 3 — The Warning Jason Received

Denise Warren was the restaurant’s shift supervisor.

She had worked at Bellamy’s for almost eight years.

Jason had been there less than six months.

According to Jason, Denise had called him into the storage room that morning.

She showed him a printed disciplinary notice.

Three customer complaints.

Two allegedly involving spills.

One involving rude behavior.

“She said the next mistake was automatic termination,” Jason explained.

Mark frowned.

“I never approved that warning.”

Jason looked confused.

“Your signature was on it.”

Mark’s expression changed.

“Show me.”

Jason disappeared into the employee hallway.

He returned with a folded sheet of paper.

Mark read it.

Then read it again.

“This isn’t my signature.”

Jason stared at him.

“What?”

Mark held up the page.

“Someone copied it.”

Rachel leaned toward Lucas.

“This is getting strange.”

Lucas whispered back.

“Maybe the camera saw that too.”

Rachel smiled despite herself.

Mark looked toward the office.

“Where is Denise?”

A hostess answered from the counter.

“She left about ten minutes ago.”

“Did she say where she was going?”

“No.”

Jason rubbed both hands over his face.

“I thought you wanted me gone.”

Mark shook his head.

“Jason, I hadn’t even seen two of these complaints.”

“Then where did they come from?”

Mark didn’t know.

Rachel looked at the disciplinary paper.

“Can I ask something?”

Both men turned.

“What were the complaints about?”

Jason pointed to the page.

“One said I spilled coffee on a customer last Thursday.”

“Did you?”

“No.”

“Another?”

“That I dropped a tray near Booth 7.”

“Did you?”

Jason shook his head.

“No.”

Rachel looked toward the security cameras.

“Then maybe you should check those recordings too.”
