Mia Was Blamed for Taking Something From Aunt Rebecca’s Package — Then the Porch Camera Showed Who Really Reached Into the Box

Chapter 9 — Rebecca Apologizes to Mia

Before Walter left, Rebecca went looking for Mia.

The little girl was sitting in the living room coloring.

Rebecca sat beside her.

“Can we talk?”

Mia nodded cautiously.

Rebecca took a breath.

“You told me you didn’t take the medal.”

“I didn’t.”

“I know.”

Mia continued coloring.

Rebecca looked uncomfortable.

“I should have believed you.”

Mia looked up.

“Mom believed me.”

Rebecca smiled sadly.

“Your mom did something smarter.”

“Camera.”

“Yeah.”

Rebecca nodded.

“She checked before deciding.”

Mia considered that.

Then pointed toward Walter.

“He took it.”

“He did.”

“Is he in trouble?”

Rebecca looked toward the elderly man.

“He did something wrong.”

“But the medal was his?”

“It belonged to his brother.”

Mia frowned.

“That’s confusing.”

Lauren laughed softly from the doorway.

“It is.”

Rebecca turned back to Mia.

“The important part is that I blamed you before I knew what happened.”

“I was just drawing.”

“I know.”

Rebecca kissed the top of her head.

“I’m sorry.”

Mia accepted the apology.

Then immediately asked Walter whether he had any pictures of Frank wearing the medal.

Walter smiled.

“I think I have one.”

“Can I see?”

“Absolutely.”
