Lucas continued searching Anna’s box.
Near the bottom was a bundle of envelopes tied with string.
Each was addressed to Evelyn Parker.
Evelyn stared.
“Those are for me.”
There were eleven letters.
Dates ranged across almost twenty years.
Most had never been mailed.
But three had postage.
And all three were stamped:

Evelyn picked up the earliest.

Her childhood home.
She opened it.
Rose had written:

Evelyn’s hands began shaking.
“I never saw this.”
Lucas opened another.
