Emily Was Seconds Away From Saying “I Do” — Then a Woman Put an Official Document in Her Hands

Chapter 6 — Why Natalie Disappeared

Natalie had not simply abandoned Ryan.

At least not in the way he described.

Nora played another recording.

Natalie had made it for herself shortly before leaving.

She described finding company documents inside Ryan’s office.

Several bore her signature.

She insisted she had never signed them.

When she confronted Ryan, he told her the paperwork was harmless.

Then she discovered loans had been issued using those companies.

Natalie became frightened she would be blamed if everything collapsed.

She contacted Graham Pike.

Graham told her he could arrange a quiet divorce.

He gave her papers to sign.

Then advised her to leave the state temporarily while he “handled the rest.”

“He never did,” Nora said.

Ryan stared at her.

“Why would Graham leave me legally married?”

“That’s what we need to find out.”

Thomas spoke from behind them.

“Maybe because a legal wife can still be useful.”

Everyone turned.

Thomas had been reviewing the financial documents.

Several companies connected to Natalie remained active years after she disappeared.

Some had recently received transfers again.

One transfer occurred only six months earlier.

By then Ryan had been engaged to Emily.

Ryan looked confused.

“I didn’t authorize that.”

Nora looked at him.

“Then who still had access?”

Ryan answered quietly.

“Graham.”

The attorney who had helped create the companies…

had apparently continued using them after Ryan claimed to have stopped.
