The facility still existed.

The account had been inactive for years, but rental fees had quietly continued through an old foundation reserve.
Rachel’s name remained on the original paperwork.
Daniel brought identification, legal documents, and a copy of Rachel’s death certificate.
The facility manager contacted the company’s attorney.
Several hours later, Daniel was granted supervised access.
Vanessa stayed home with Emily and Sophie.
Daniel opened the unit.

His hands shook as he lifted it.
