Mason Found Ryan’s Missing Soccer Gear Inside a Black Case — Then Coach Sarah Checked the Field Cameras
Chapter 1 — The Missing Cleats
Mason Reed was already late for warm-ups when he realized something was wrong.
He dropped his equipment bag beside the bench.
Shin guards.
Water bottle.
Training jacket.
Extra socks.
Then he checked the side pocket again.
Nothing.
His new soccer cleats were gone.
“No way.”
Mason emptied the entire bag onto the grass.
Coach Sarah Mitchell noticed immediately.
“What are you doing?”
“My cleats are missing.”
Sarah frowned.
“You packed them this morning?”
“I checked twice.”
She looked toward the team benches.
Practice hadn’t officially started yet.
Players were scattered across the field.
Some were passing balls.
Others were stretching.
Sarah helped Mason check beneath the bench.
Nothing.
Then Mason noticed a large black equipment case sitting near the far touchline.
It didn’t belong there.
“Coach.”
Sarah followed his gaze.
“Whose case is that?”
Neither of them knew.
They walked toward it.
Sarah crouched and opened the lid.
Inside were a pair of black-and-white soccer shoes.
A blue team jersey.
And several folded training clothes.
Mason picked up the jersey.
Initials were written inside the collar.
R.K.
Mason froze.
“That belongs to Ryan.”
Sarah looked at him.
Ryan Keller was the team’s starting midfielder.
Three days earlier, his equipment disappeared after practice.
The club searched everywhere.
Nothing was found.
Ryan’s father accused someone of stealing it.
Now the missing gear had suddenly appeared inside a case beside the field.
Mason shook his head.
“I didn’t put this here.”
Sarah looked toward the training area.
Then toward the tall light poles surrounding the pitch.
Security cameras were mounted near the top.
She closed the equipment case.
“We’re going to find out exactly who put this here.”
Across the field, one player stopped stretching.
And quietly looked toward the parking lot.
