Mason Found Ryan’s Missing Soccer Gear Inside a Black Case — Then Coach Sarah Checked the Field Cameras
Chapter 9 — The Showcase Match
Derek was suspended immediately.
Every player evaluation he had touched was reviewed.
The regional academy scout was informed.
Ryan’s medical status was restored.
His equipment was returned.
And the showcase match was rescheduled.
One week later, Ryan stood in midfield wearing the blue jersey that had been hidden inside the black case.
Mason started beside him.
Tyler sat on the bench for the first half.
Not as punishment.
Because Sarah had rebuilt the lineup using verified evaluations.
At halftime, she brought Tyler on.
He played the best thirty minutes Mason had ever seen from him.
No inflated score.
No manipulated ranking.
Just soccer.
Ryan scored once.
Mason assisted another.
Tyler created the final goal.
The academy scout remained until the field lights came on.
Afterward, he spoke privately with several players.
Ryan.
Mason.
And Tyler.
Tyler looked stunned when the scout called his name.
“Me?”
Sarah smiled.
“Turns out you don’t need fake numbers.”
Tyler looked toward the pitch.
“I wish I’d known that earlier.”
Ryan put one hand on his shoulder.
“Now you do.”
Three days later, Ryan received an invitation to the academy trial.
So did Mason.
Tyler was invited to a regional development session.
Caleb Walsh remained eligible too.
Sarah insisted on that.
Caleb had not altered the records.
His father’s actions would not be used to punish him.
