Sophie Came Home With a Note Saying “DON’T TELL DAD” — Then Daniel Opened the Kitchen Cabinet

Chapter 6 — Sophie’s Video

Sophie ran upstairs.

She returned carrying her school tablet.

“I was making a video for class.”

Her assignment was called MY WALK THROUGH SCHOOL.

The students were supposed to record short clips showing their favorite parts of the building.

Sophie had filmed the library.

The playground.

Her classroom.

And accidentally, the loading entrance.

Daniel pressed play.

The video shook as Sophie walked down the hallway.

Then the camera passed a window.

Outside, Principal Reed stood beside a red van.

Kevin Blake was loading supermarket boxes into the back.

Daniel paused the video.

Rachel covered her mouth.

There were at least twelve boxes visible.

All marked:

WEEKEND FAMILY FOOD PROGRAM — NOT FOR RESALE.

Daniel looked at Sophie.

“Did they see you filming?”

She shook her head.

Then she remembered something.

“Mr. Reed saw me after.”

Rachel’s face changed.

“What did he say?”

“He asked why I was near the cafeteria.”

“What did you tell him?”

“That I forgot my folder.”

Daniel leaned closer.

“Did he ask about the tablet?”

Sophie nodded.

“He asked what I recorded.”

Rachel looked terrified now.

“And?”

“I said the library.”

Daniel exhaled.

Principal Reed didn’t know Sophie had captured the loading area.

Not yet.

Rachel picked up her phone.

“I’m calling the school board.”

Daniel stopped her.

“Wait.”

“Why?”

He pointed toward Kevin’s van on the screen.

“First I want to know where those boxes went.”
