Noah’s Science Project Was Smashed Before Class — Then the Security Camera Showed Who Entered the Lab
Chapter 2 — The Camera Above the Door
The science laboratory had recently been renovated.
New cabinets.
New equipment.
And a security camera mounted high above the entrance.
It had been installed after several expensive electronic components went missing the previous semester.
Ms. Carter opened the school’s security application.
Noah stood beside her.
Tyler remained several feet away.
“What time did you leave yesterday?” Ms. Carter asked.
Noah thought for a moment.
“Around four.”
She selected the previous afternoon.
The recording began.
At 4:03 PM, Noah appeared on-screen.
His bridge sat perfectly intact on the central table.
He adjusted one beam.
Then packed his tools.
He left.
The room remained empty.
4:08.
4:12.
4:19.
Then the laboratory door opened.
A figure entered.
Tyler took one small step backward.
Noah looked toward him.
The person on-screen wore a gray hoodie.
Same color as Tyler’s.
But the hood covered most of the face.
Ms. Carter leaned closer.
The figure walked directly toward Noah’s bridge.
Then stopped.
For several seconds, nothing happened.
Suddenly, the person reached down.
Picked up the bridge.
And slammed it against the table.
Noah flinched.
The figure hit it again.
Then stepped on one of the fallen beams.
Tyler’s face went pale.
Ms. Carter paused the recording.
“Tyler.”
“That’s not me.”
“You haven’t even seen the face yet.”
Tyler stopped talking.
Ms. Carter resumed the video.
The figure turned toward the door.
The hood slipped backward.
Noah gasped.
But it wasn’t Tyler.
It was someone else.
Tyler stared at the screen in shock.
“Evan?”
