Amber Demands Answers About Co-Parenting Surprise — Then A Hidden Document Reveals Jamal’s True Motive
Chapter 9 — The Bank Reversal Notice — Then Jamal Submits To Reality
The screen of Amber’s phone lit up with the flashing notification.
Account freeze status: Confirmed.
Jamal stopped pacing.
He stared at Amber’s phone screen as if the glowing pixels were written in a foreign language.
“What did you just do?” Jamal asked.
His voice dropped from defensive shouting to a cold, sharp whisper.
“I filed an emergency asset restriction,” Amber answered.
She didn’t look away from her screen.
“Because you used our shared reserve funds without authorization.”
“That money was meant for Leo’s braces or emergency medical bills.”
“Not for you to buy your way into an elite private school club.”
Jamal took a step toward the counter.
“You had no right to freeze my access,” Jamal said.
“That account is tied to my primary business deposits too.”
“You just locked up my operational cash flow.”
“You locked it up the moment you drained four thousand dollars for a secret tuition deposit,” Amber countered.
“The bank reversal notice is already processing on my end.”
“The academy enrollment is formally canceled by mutual administrative default.”
Jamal shook his head.
“You can’t just cancel that,” Jamal said, his hands flat on the wooden countertop.
“I signed the binding terms.”
“The binding terms require dual parental signatures,” Amber replied evenly.
“I emailed the school’s registrar fifteen minutes ago with our court-ordered custody decree.”
“They verified that your sole signature violates the enrollment bylaws.”
“They are issuing a full refund directly back to the frozen source account within twenty-four hours.”
Jamal let out a long, ragged breath.
The anger drained out of his posture, leaving him looking suddenly exhausted.
He pulled out his chair and sat back down at the table.
He looked across the bright modern kitchen toward Leo, who was still quietly tracing the wood grain on the table edge.
“I just wanted him to have the best,” Jamal muttered, his voice cracking slightly.
“I didn’t mean to blow up our lives.”
“You blew it up the second you decided you didn’t need to talk to me,” Amber said.
She closed the kitchen laptop lid with a soft click.
She picked up the college savings ledger and slid it back into the heavy metal wall safe behind the pantry door.
