Amber Demands Answers About Co-Parenting Surprise — Then A Hidden Document Reveals Jamal’s True Motive

Chapter 8 — Jamal’s Defensive Outburst — Then Amber Sets Hard Boundaries

Jamal stared across the table at his son.

The silence in the bright modern kitchen grew heavy.

“It was just an inquiry,” Jamal said finally, his voice tight and defensive.

“We didn’t commit to anything permanent yet, Leo.”

Amber let out a sharp, incredulous breath.

“You signed the enrollment contract, Jamal,” Amber said.

“Don’t sit here and lie to our son after he just told you he likes his life.”

“I signed a placeholder application,” Jamal snapped back.

His chair scraped loudly against the tile floor as he shifted his weight.

“You’re making this into a massive battleground out of pure spite.”

“Spite?” Amber asked, her voice rising.

“You bypassed every single co-parenting agreement we have.”

“You used our son’s future as a chessboard to prove you’re some kind of visionary father.”

“You are holding me back, Amber!” Jamal shouted, slamming his palm flat onto the wooden countertop.

“You’ve been doing it since the day we split!”

“Every time I try to step up and offer him a better trajectory, you drag it down to your level!”

Leo flinched at the sudden sound.

He pulled his knees up onto the seat of the chair, wrapping his small arms around his shins.

“Hey,” Amber said softly, instantly dropping her tone for Leo’s sake.

She reached out and rested her hand gently on her son’s shoulder.

“You’re okay, buddy. This isn’t your fault.”

Jamal stood up from the table.

He paced two steps toward the white kitchen cabinets and then whipped back around.

“He needs exposure to high-level academics,” Jamal insisted, his voice still vibrating with tension.

“And I secured his spot. You should be thanking me for handling the heavy lifting.”

“Handling it by stealing thousands of dollars from our joint savings account?” Amber asked.

Her eyes locked onto him with absolute coldness.

“That wasn’t your money to spend unilaterally.”

“It was an investment in his future,” Jamal muttered, looking away toward the hallway.

“An investment you made behind my back,” Amber said.

She stood up slowly, her movements deliberate and calm.

She walked over to the kitchen desk where her laptop sat open.

“We are done arguing about what you think my motives are.”

Amber picked up her phone from the charging dock.

She unlocked the screen and tapped through her banking application.

She pulled up the exact digital ledger showing the unauthorized transfer made two days prior.

“You crossed a hard legal line when you raided that account,” Amber said quietly.

“And now we’re going to handle this strictly by the book.”

Jamal scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest.

“Go ahead,” Jamal challenged.

“Call a lawyer. See how far you get trying to punish a father for investing in his child’s education.”

Amber didn’t answer his bait.

Instead, she opened a drafting app and attached the downloaded bank statements, the signed enrollment contract, and their court-ordered parenting agreement into a single PDF file.

She sent the document directly to her family attorney with a high-priority flag.

Within three minutes, her phone buzzed sharply against the wooden countertop.

It was an automated alert notification from their primary bank regarding an active account freeze request filed under the emergency asset protection clause.
