Ben’s locked backpack and confiscated phone at the cafe — Then the security camera footage reveals who actually started the fight

Chapter 8 — The secondary camera angle discovery

Caleb stood near the corner of the small staff break area.

He had been watching the exchange unfold from behind the espresso machine.

His hands gripped a dry cleaning cloth tightly.

“Actually, the main desk monitor only shows the front register view,” Caleb said, his voice cutting through the heavy silence of the cafe.

Mark spun around to face him.

A sharp warning flashed in the manager’s eyes.

“Caleb, mind your own shift duties,” Mark snapped.

“I’m just saying,” Caleb pressed on, stepping out from behind the counter.

“The camera in the kitchen corridor catches the side of the register and the storage cabinet.”

Sarah turned her attention away from the blank logbook page.

She looked directly at Caleb.

“Does it record video?” Sarah asked.

“And audio,” Caleb added.

Mark lunged toward the Dell desktop computer sitting on the back counter.

He reached out to block the keyboard with his hand.

“You do not need to look at that,” Mark said quickly.

“That system is proprietary management software.”

Sarah stepped around the corner of the counter before Mark could shield the screen.

She placed her hand on the computer mouse.

“Step aside, Mark,” Sarah said.

Mark reached for the mouse as well, his fingers brushing against hers.

“You have no authorization to access the secondary drive,” Mark insisted, his face flushing red.

Sarah pulled her hand back just enough to click the mouse.

She bypassed the main desktop folder with a quick double-click.

A hidden directory icon appeared labeled with a timestamped folder structure.

“Which one is the kitchen corridor angle?” Sarah asked, looking back at Caleb.

“The third folder down,” Caleb answered, pointing at the screen.

“The one marked Back-Hall-South.”

Sarah moved the cursor over the folder and clicked again.

Mark let out a frustrated sigh and crossed his arms over his chest.

“This is a complete waste of time,” Mark muttered, turning his gaze toward the front window.

The screen flickered for a second as the high-definition video file attempted to load from the local server.

A progress bar crept slowly across the center of the Dell monitor.

Sarah kept her finger resting lightly on the edge of the desk, waiting for the file to open.

The secondary feed finally loaded on the screen, displaying the wide-angle view of the corner near the counter.

The timestamp in the top left corner matched the exact beginning of the afternoon dispute.
