Noah Kept Saying Someone Had Been Inside His Room — Then Ethan Played the Security Recording and Rachel Recognized Him
Chapter 1 — “Play That Again”
Noah was sitting on the edge of his bed when Ethan found him.
The eight-year-old had both hands pressed against his face.
Tears ran down his cheeks.
Ethan immediately crossed the room.
“Buddy, what happened?”
Noah tried to answer.
“There was… somebody…”
His voice broke.
Rachel stood silently in the doorway.
Ethan looked at her.
“What’s going on?”
Rachel folded her arms.
“He says somebody was in here.”
“Was there?”
“The house was supposed to be empty.”
Noah shook his head desperately.
“I saw him.”
Rachel sighed.
“Noah, we’ve already talked about this.”
Ethan looked at his son.
“Who did you see?”
But Noah suddenly pointed toward the desk across the room.
A laptop sat open beside his schoolbooks.
“Camera.”
Ethan frowned.
The small security camera above Noah’s bookshelf normally recorded only when the family was away.
They had installed it months earlier after a window was accidentally left open during a storm.
Ethan turned the laptop toward himself.
“You checked it?”
Noah nodded.
“I didn’t make it up.”
Ethan opened the recording.
Timestamp:
2:17 PM.
The room was empty.
Sunlight fell across Noah’s bed.
Nothing moved.
Then the bedroom door slowly opened.
A man entered.
Ethan leaned closer.
The man’s face was partly hidden by a dark baseball cap.
He crossed the room.
Stopped beside Noah’s antique writing table.
Then crouched.
Rachel’s expression changed.
“Play that again.”
Ethan looked at her.
“Why?”
“Just play it again.”
He rewound.
This time Ethan noticed the man’s left wrist.
A thick silver bracelet.
Rachel stepped backward.
“Oh my God.”
Ethan turned toward her.
“You know him.”
Rachel said nothing.
Noah continued crying.
Then Ethan paused the clearest frame.
Part of the man’s face was visible.
Rachel whispered one name.
“Lucas.”
