Ryan Saw Vanessa Holding Their Crying Daughter in the Kitchen — Then Emma Pointed at the Security Camera
Chapter 2 — Twenty Minutes Earlier
Ryan opened the security application.
Vanessa stepped toward him.
“Can we talk privately first?”
Ryan looked up.
“Why?”
“Because you’re going to misunderstand what you see.”
That sentence made him even more determined to watch.
He selected the kitchen camera.
Then moved the timeline backward twenty minutes.
The recording began.
The kitchen was empty.
At 4:08 PM, Emma entered carrying her school backpack.
She placed it on a chair.
Then opened the refrigerator.
She removed two sandwiches.
Three juice boxes.
A bag of apples.
And several snack bars.
Ryan frowned.
“What is she doing?”
Vanessa didn’t answer.
Emma had stopped crying now.
She watched the phone nervously.
On the recording, Emma placed the food inside a reusable grocery bag.
Then Vanessa entered.
She saw the bag.
Her expression changed immediately.
“What are you doing?” the recording captured her saying.
Emma tried to close the bag.
“Nothing.”
Vanessa pulled it open.
“You’re doing this again?”
Emma stepped backward.
“Please don’t.”
Vanessa grabbed her wrist.
“Where are you taking this food?”
Emma refused to answer.
Then Vanessa said something that made Ryan stop the recording.
“Did you tell your father what you saw?”
Ryan slowly turned toward his wife.
“What did she see?”
Vanessa went pale.
