Ethan Was Blamed for Shattering the Planter — Then His Father Checked the Doorbell Camera
Chapter 2 — The Delivery Box
Daniel opened the camera application.
He selected the recording from eleven minutes earlier.
The video began.
The porch was empty.
The planter stood beside the door.
Everything looked normal.
Then a delivery driver appeared carrying an unusually large cardboard box.
He walked up the steps and placed it beside the planter.
Laura leaned closer.
“That’s my package.”
She had ordered a small table lamp.
But the box on the screen seemed far too large for a lamp.
The driver scanned the label.
Then he walked away.
For several seconds, nothing happened.
Daniel fast-forwarded.
“There,” Laura said.
Ethan appeared at the edge of the camera.
He walked toward the steps.
Laura immediately looked at him.
“See?”
Daniel raised one hand.
“Keep watching.”
On the recording, Ethan stopped several feet away from the planter.
He bent down to tie his shoe.
He never touched it.
Then something moved.
Not Ethan.
The delivery box.
Daniel stopped the recording.
“Did you see that?”
Laura frowned.
“Play it again.”
He rewound five seconds.
The box shifted slightly.
Then again.
Ethan looked at his parents.
“I told you.”
Daniel played the recording at normal speed.
Suddenly the cardboard box tipped sideways.
It struck the planter.
The planter fell from the step.
It shattered.
Laura’s angry expression disappeared instantly.
Ethan hadn’t touched anything.
He had been telling the truth.
Laura turned toward him.
“Ethan…”
But Ethan wasn’t looking at her.
He was staring at the screen.
“Dad.”
Daniel looked down.
“What?”
Ethan pointed toward the recording.
“Why did the box move?”
Nobody answered.
Daniel played the clip again.
The box hadn’t simply fallen.
Something had pushed against it from the inside.
