Claire struggled to understand one thing.
“Why didn’t Andrew tell Dad the truth before he died?”
Walter looked toward the office.
“I think he was going to.”
He handed her another document.
A draft email recovered from an old computer backup.
It had never been sent.
The recipient was Walter.
The opening line read:
Dad, Claire didn’t do any of this.
Claire covered her mouth.
The rest of the message was incomplete.
Andrew admitted creating Weston Food Distribution.
He admitted using Claire’s credentials.
Then wrote:
I thought I could replace the money before anyone noticed.
The email stopped mid-sentence.
Timestamp:
7:42 AM.
Andrew’s accident occurred less than an hour later.
Walter never saw the confession.
Then, during the chaos following Andrew’s death, financial records were reviewed.
Everything pointed toward Claire.
Walter was grieving.
Angry.
He chose the explanation directly in front of him.
And never looked deeper.
Claire cried silently.
Not only because Andrew betrayed her.
Because he apparently tried to correct it.
He simply ran out of time.
Daniel reached for her hand.
Then Walter said:
“There’s one more reason I needed you here.”
Claire looked up.
Walter opened the desk drawer.
He removed a legal folder.
Across the top:
SALE OF HARRISON & SONS.
“I haven’t signed it,” Walter said.
“Because half this company may already belong to you.”
