Delivery Driver Ryan Saw a Terrified Boy Hiding Behind Packages — Then an Older Woman Looked at the Child and Screamed His Name

Chapter 6 — Someone Close

Police reviewed everyone connected to Noah.

School employees.

Neighbors.

Family friends.

Relatives.

Margaret sat at her dining table as Detective Ruiz asked questions.

Ryan had gone home.

But he couldn’t stop thinking about the case.

The next morning, he received a call.

Margaret.

“I found something.”

Ryan almost asked why she was calling him instead of police.

Then she explained.

Noah had mentioned something before falling asleep.

“The lady knew our dog.”

Ryan frowned.

“What dog?”

“My daughter has a golden retriever named Baxter.”

Margaret’s voice trembled.

“Noah said the woman who picked him up told him Baxter was waiting at home.”

That meant she knew the family.

Ryan drove to Margaret’s apartment.

Detective Ruiz arrived soon afterward.

They asked Noah to describe the woman.

“Brown hair.”

“Glasses?”

“No.”

“Old?”

Noah shook his head.

“Young?”

He nodded.

“Did she tell you her name?”

Noah hesitated.

Then whispered.

“Aunt Lisa.”

Margaret dropped her coffee cup.

Detective Ruiz turned.

“Who is Lisa?”

Margaret stared toward the floor.

“My daughter doesn’t have a sister.”

“Then who is she?”

Margaret looked up.

“Lisa Grant.”

The name clearly meant something.

“She used to babysit Noah.”
