The pet camera sent Claire an alert at 11:14 PM.
Motion detected.
She opened the feed.
At first, she saw only the living room.
Then a shadow moved near the hallway.
Claire called police immediately.
Daniel, Claire’s husband, checked the back door from upstairs.
Someone had forced the lock.
By the time police arrived, the person was gone.
But the house had cameras now.
More than one.
The exterior recording showed a man wearing a hood entering through the rear garden.
The kitchen camera captured part of his face.
Richard denied knowing him.
Police eventually identified the intruder as Kevin Moss.
A private security contractor who had previously worked for Bell River Holdings.
Kevin claimed he had been hired to retrieve “old company documents.”
“By who?” investigators asked.
He hesitated.
Then gave them the name of Bell River Holdings’ longtime legal consultant.
Not Richard.
A man named Gerald Knox.
Gerald had worked with Thomas Bell during the original property development.
Investigators searched his archived files.
And found something none of them expected.
A copy of Eleanor’s forged transfer.
Attached was a handwritten note:
T.B. says E. will never challenge. Proceed.
The initials were clear.
T.B.
Thomas Bell.
For the first time, there was documentation directly connecting him to the disputed transfer.
